David Sanborn
Renowned and revered the world over as one of the greatest saxophone players of all-time, David Sanborn is an artist whose music has inspired countless other musicians while creating a body of work that spans the genres of rock ‘n’ roll, R&B, pop and jazz. A naturally gifted performer, David has helped defined the saxophone’s modern sound while influencing a generation.Born July 30, 1945 in Tampa, Florida, David William Sanborn contracted polio when he was only 3 years old. As a part of his rehabilitative therapy, David was introduced to the saxophone. It was an introduction with consequences quite beyond the imagination of his parents, doctors – or anyone else. The selection of the alto sax – a favourite from David’s days spent listening to the radio – would prove to be a pivotal moment in the development of his sound.
Growing up in St. Louis, Missouri, David was tremendously inspired by the rich legacy of great Chicago blues artists who would play their way through town. Before he was finished high school, David had played with names such as Albert King and Little Milton. "When I was 17 or 18,” David has said, "And it was time to figure out what to do with my life, I realized that I didn't enjoy anything as much as I enjoyed playing music. I felt that I had no choice, that I HAD to become a musician. Either that or steal cars."
David studied music for a year at Northwestern University before transferring to the University of Iowa. By 20, he was married and the proud father of a son – Jonathan Sanborn – for whom each of David’s records have been dedicated. A phone call from an old friend in San Francisco – drummer Teddy Steward – convinced David to head for California. It was while in San Francisco that another old friend – Phillip Wilson – who had recently joined the Butterfield Blues Band, invited David to Los Angeles to sit-in on recording sessions with the band. “I got on a Greyhound bus from San Francisco to LA, took a bus into Hollywood, slept on the floor of Phillip's hotel room and went to the studio with him.” David has said. “Just had my horn. I think it was because I looked so pathetic, standing there with my horn, Paul Butterfield said, "Why don't you just come and play on a tune?" I sat in and I did okay. And I was with Butterfield for almost five years.”
Those five years saw David –with the Butterfield Blues Band – play Woodstock, among many other classic gigs. But the demise of that band only brought David new opportunities and within a week he was touring with another legend – Stevie Wonder. David played on Wonder’s remarkable “Talking Book” LP, rocked briefly with rock and roll heroes The Rolling Stones then toured with David Bowie, eventually performing his famous solo on Bowie’s 1975 recording “Young Americans.”
It was also in 1975 that David released his first solo album Taking Off. The record enjoyed respectable sales and while David continued working with other performers such as Paul Simon and James Taylor he also continued flexing his considerable muscles as a solo artist, eventually scoring massive popular hits with 1980’s Hideaway and 1981’s Grammy winning Voyeur.
1983 saw David branch off in a new artistic direction with his first acting roll in the Italian film "Stelle Sulla Citta" for which he also scored the soundtrack. It was also in ’83 that David released his landmark Backstreet album which proved a major hit in the world of contemporary jazz.
David was awarded his second Grammy in 1986 for the album Double Vision and in the late 1980s hosted one of the most remarkable musical television programs of all time – Night Music. Offering up old films of jazz legends, music talk and incredible jams by an increasingly eclectic roll call of musicians from different fields, Night Music is fondly remembered among music fans as a groundbreaking and genre-bursting show. Produced by Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels, Night Music brought artists as diverse as Sonny Rollins, Leonard Cohen, Hank Crawford, Conway Twitty, Sonic Youth, Al Green and the Pixies together on one program.
Throughout the nineties and into the present, David has continued to tour and record, having amassed a wide and enthusiastic fan base around the world. The albums Pearls, Songs From The Night Before and Essentials reflect the essence of an artist at peace with his own sound and development, yet still hungry – eager to explore the possibilities of his instrument and his abilities.
David Sanborn is both musician and artist – that rare breed of popular recording star as eager today as he was in his youth to continue pushing boundaries and to continue making music that challenges the mind as it rewards the heart and soul.

Marion Meadows
Born in West Virginia, saxophonist Marion Meadows – whose ethnic mix is Native American, African American and Caucasian – grews up in Stamford, Connecticut, where he began playing clarinet and studying classical music at eight years old. His passion for different types of music led him to appreciate numerous jazz musicians, including Stanley Turrentine, Sidney Bichet, Johnny Hodges, Duke Ellington and Coleman Hawkins, and he naturally gravitated to the soprano sax in his high school years. Fortunately for the smooth jazz fans who have embraced his sweet and funky soprano sound over the last decade, Meadows decided to take a few very important trips to Europe during his junior and senior years.
He had dreamed of being either a veterinarian or zoologist, and assumed he would enroll in college as a pre-med major. Playing the sax was just a hobby until he saw the way audiences reacted to him and his student cohorts in Holland, Italy and Austria.“The first trip was with my high school band and the second was a graduation gift to me and a few other guys playing over there in a big band setting,” he says. “It was exciting seeing positive newspaper articles about my playing in Italy, receiving all sorts of accolades and feeling the excitement of interaction with the crowd.
It was a tremendous rush, and lit the fire.”After studying jazz with Anthony Truglia, Meadows attended Berklee College of Music, where he majored in arranging and composition. He later went to the SUNY Purchase School for the Arts, where he studied under Ron Herder. “I got a lot of sideman jobs in college, and I have always said I got a graduate degree playing clubs,” adds Meadows, who perfected his craft studying with Joe Henderson, Dave Liebman and Eddie Daniels. “Not long after I finished school, (well-known jazz drummer) Norman Connors recorded my song ‘Invitation’ and then asked me to join his band. I later produced his Passion album with him.
Things just fell into place.”Meadows first hit the airwaves in 1991 with For Lovers Only, but his career really began one day in the late ‘80s at New York’s Grand Central Station. He had been a sideman with Connors for three years with only vague notions of eventually going solo. Then one day, as the oft-told story goes, he was waiting for a train, pulled out his horn and began playing under the huge dome. His sweet sound caught the attention of fellow traveler, TV composer Jay Chattaway, who was so impressed that he hooked Meadows up with legendary keyboardist Bob James. James signed Meadows to a deal with his TappanZee label, and though Meadows’ first recording went unreleased, the experience put him on the road to his eventual success.
Meadows hooked up with numerous artists and musicians and became a well known sideman in his own right, recording or performing over the years with Brook Benton, Eartha Kitt, Phyllis Hyman, Jean Carne, The Temptations, Michael Bolton, Angela Bofill, Will Downing and Native American flute player Douglas Spotted Eagle, among many others. In the late ‘80s, Meadows stretched his usual pop/jazz boundaries as a member of a New York avant-garde band called the Aboriginal Music Society. He was performing in Japan when he got the call that RCA Records was interested in signing him to a solo deal, based on his first album which he had recorded and financed himself.
Meadows became a staple of the smooth jazz format with his subsequent recordings, which include Keep It Right Here (1993), Forbidden Fruit (1994) and Body Rhythm (1996). After moving from his home in Connecticut to Phoenix, Arizona, Meadows signed with Heads Up International and released Another Side of Midnight (1999). A contemporary tribute to city life, his label debut was considered by critics to be his strongest work to date.
His subsequent heads Up discography has been equally successful on an artistic as well as commercial level: Next To You (2000), featured a mix of R&B-influenced jazz coupled with sensual Latin rhythms; In Deep (2002), a neo-soul blend of jazz, R&B and hip-hop, brimmed with sophisticated arrangements and impressive tenor/soprano playing; Players Club (2004) paid tribute to Meadows’ fellow musicians with a seamless mix of contemporary jazz and soulful R&B.
All four Heads Up recordings have been well received by his ever-growing, always loyal fans. Dressed To Chill, scheduled for release on May 23, 2006, is the latest chapter in Meadows’ satisfying tradition of cool sophistication.“I’ve been involved in a lot of projects, both my own and group efforts,” says Meadows, “and my main objective is to keep growing as an artist and engage the fans who have invested so much emotion in my music and my career. Aside from that wonderful sense of live communication, the real magic for me happens in the studio when I put on those headphones and begin to play. That’s where the ideas just start to flow. Everything else in my musical life comes out of that moment.”
Everette Harp
What can you say about Everette Harp, smooth, real smooth sax playing!!!Everette Harp started playing piano at two and began practicing saxophone at the age of four. The youngest of the eight children of a minister, gospel music was one of Harp’s earliest influences. He plays both alto and soprano saxophone, and has collaborated with internationally renowned artists such as Chico Hamilton, Gary Peacock, Chic Corea and Kikuchi Masabumi.
Mr Sax

History
The saxophone was developed in the 1840s by Adolphe Sax, a Belgian - born instrument-maker, flautist, and clarinetist working in Paris. While still working at his father's instrument shop in Brussels, Sax began developing an instrument which had the projection of a brass instrument with the mobility of a woodwind. Another priority was to create an instrument which, while similar to the clarinet, would overblow at the octave, unlike the clarinet, which rises in pitch by a twelfth when overblown; an instrument which overblew at the octave would have identical fingering for both registers.
Sax's patent expired in 1866;

Kenny G
Kenneth Gorelick (born June 5 1956) better known by his stage name Kenny G, is an American saxophonist whose fourth album, Duotones, brought him "breakthrough success" in 1986. Kenny's main instrument is the soprano saxophone, but he also plays the alto, and tenor saxophone and the flute on occasion.Early life
Kenny was born in Seattle, Washington and first came into contact with a saxophone when he heard someone performing with one on The Ed Sullivan Show. He learned how to play under the direction of local trumpeter Gerald Pfister and by practicing along with records (mostly of Grover Washington, Jr) trying to emulate the sounds that he was hearing.
At Frankling High School he failed to get into the jazz band when he applied, although was accepted the following year when he tried again. He also played for his high school golf team, a sport which he had loved ever since his older brother, Brian Gorelick, introduced it to him when he was ten years old. Brian Gorelick is currently a music professor and choir conductor at Wake Forest University.
Career
Kenneth Gorelick began his career as a musician when he acquired his first ever professional job as saxophone soloist for Barry Whites Love Unlimited Orchestra in 1976 at the age of 20, when White was impressed by his mastery of the blues scale. Kenny was also studying for a major in accounting at the same time. After being rejected as a music major from Central Washington University, he went on to get a degree from University of Washington and played with the funk band Cold, Bold & Together before becoming a credited member of The Jeff Lorber Fusion. He began his solo career after his period with Lorber.
In 1982, Kenny G signed with Arista Records as a solo artist, after label president Clive Davis heard his rendition of ABBA's "Dancing Queen". He has released many solo albums and collaborated with various artists including Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, Natalie Cole, Steve Miller (which marked the only time he appeared on a rock and roll album), Dudley Moore, Michael Bolton, and Aretha Franklin. Influenced by the likes of saxophonist Grover Washington Jr and the lyricism of Barry Manilow, his own albums are usually classified as smooth jazz.
He received success quite early on, with both G Force and Gravity, his second and third studio albums respectively, achieving platinum status in the United States. These sales were topped by his fourth studio album, Duotones, which shifted over five million copies in the U.S. alone. His fifth studio album, Breathless, became the number one best selling instrumental album ever, with over 15 million copies sold, of which 12 million were in the U.S. He broke another record when his first holiday album, Miracles, sold over 13 million copies, making it the most successful Christmas album to date.
In 1997, Kenny G earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for playing the longest note ever recorded on a saxophone. Kenny G held an E-flat for forty five minutes and 12 seconds in the Hopkins-Bright Auditorium at J&R Music World in New York City. That same year, Kenny G's song "Havana", from his album The Moment, was remixed by noted DJs Todd Terry and Tony Moran and released promotionally to dance clubs in the U.S. These mixes went to #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart in April of 1997, giving Kenny his first (and, to date, only) #1 on this chart.
Gorelick's 1999 single, "What A Wounderful World" stirred controversy among the jazz community regarding the overdubbing of Louis Armstrong's classic recording. A common criticism was that such a revered recording by a musician known especially for improvisation should not be altered. Pat Metheny responded to this recording by saying, "With this single move, Kenny G became one of the few people on earth I can say that I really can't use at all - as a man, for his incredible arrogance to even consider such a thing, and as a musician, for presuming to share the stage with the single most important figure in our music." The "duet" was produced by David Foster who also recorded the Natalie Cole and Nat King Cole duet. Gorelick stated at the time,"...I didn't want to spoil the original. I said, 'Whatever we do, if we're not going to make it better, let's throw it away and we won't do it.' So (Foster) guaranteed that it would be better, and I hope that we did a good job on it."
Some columnists countered the criticisms suggesting such a recording would bring classic jazz to a wider audience. Nevertheless, Kenny G fans considered the live performance of this duet with Armstrong on a video taped backdrop a "show stopper." Additionally, Gorelick has stated that all the proceeds from this single go to his Kenny G Miracles Foundation which "funnel(s) the money to charities to purchase musical instruments and to supplement funding for the arts in schools." As of 2003, Kenny G was named the 25th-highest selling artist in America by the RIAA, with 48 million albums sold in the USA as of jULY 31, 2006. In 1994, Kenny G won the Grammy Award For The Best Instrumental Composition for "Forever in Love"
Personal life
Kenny G is currently married to Lyndie Benson, with whom he has two children – Max (aged thirteen) and Noah (aged nine). They have expressed an interest in saxophone and piano respectively. He plays golf regularly, and has a playing handicap of +0.6. He has participated in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro Am tournament seven times as of Februari 7, 2008 and Golf Digest awarded him the position of number one musician golfer in their December rankings of Top 100 in Music.
Kenny is also a pilot, and has been known to fly to many events.
He has one sister, Paula, and one brother, Brian. Brian's son David is a musician and plays bass in the band "Puking up Sunshine."

Minat
Masa kat U dulu, girlfrend saya ( actually my ex girlfrend ) adalah seorang pemain tenis.
Semakin hari, minat saya kat tenis semakin menebal.

Kawan oh kawan
Tapi yang paling aku terasa sangat2 ialah bila satu hari aku terlupa paper mana yang perlu aku siapkan dan hantar, bila aku tanya dia cakap " tak ade paper yang perlu dihantar esok", macam bagus je. Esoknya, bila masuk kelas, mat salleh tu tanya " jo, where is ur paper, i havent seen ur paper yet, aku terus mati akal, walau beratus alasan yang aku bagi, mat salleh tu senyum je, sambil mencatatkan sesuatu kat dalam buku catatanya.

Time to take off

Mencari kepastian

Kalu korang nak tahu, inilah satu2nya artis idola ku, dia cantik, manis dan sejuk mata memandang. Kalu korang nak tahu sapa gadis pilihan ku, tentu aku tidak akan cakap si dia ni, sebab dia ni kan isteri orang, cuma aku boleh cakap yang aku akan pilih wajah seiras2 dia, sapa? dialah... Vanida Imran, cayalah...

Kisah asrama
Ketika aku di form 5, masalah ketiadaan air, aku dah tak heran, Apasal? sebabnya akukan dah senior, power pun dah lebih ... ahahahahah... Pernah satu kes tu masa air tak de, aku dgn beberapa orang kawan cuba memcari jalan penyelesaian, pikir punya pikir, akhirnya kami dapat satu idea, apa kata kalu kita panjat tangki air asrama dan gunakan air tangki tersebut, lagipun tangki tu taklah tinggi sangat, lebih kurang 7 kaki je dari paras lantai. ( adik2, jangan tiru idea kami ni, sebab ianya menyalahi undang2 asrama )
Dah siap aku mandi, adelah kawan sorang yang masih belum selesai lagi, " jom la oooi, dah sejuk ni, simpanla air tu sikit kat orang lain," kata ku, "ok2, sikit lagini" katanya.
( apasal tak bagitahu awal2 nak terjun tangki, aku pun nak gak, skg ni aku dah siap pakai lawa2, habis cam ne .. waaaaa.. )

Zaman menegah 2
Aku tak ade awek ke?? nak jawab ke soalan ni... ade, dan aku juga perasan (bukan ditimpa perasaan) ade awek yang minat kat aku, tapi aku ni jenis yang memilih sikit (sikit je, bukanya banyak) tapi aku ade syok kat satu awek tu, budak form 4, masalahnya aku banyak saingan, ramai pulak yang minat kat dia. Aku suka kat awek tu, tapi awek tu tak suka kat aku. Bila ade awek yang suka, aku pula tak berkenan... habis nak wat camane?
Pas tu ade seorang kakak uppersix nak buat aku sebagai adik angkat. Kakak tu lawar.
sebab dia fikir aku nak rampas kakak dia, mana ade, aku dah anggap kakak dia macam kakak aku.
Pelbagai soalan diajukan kepada ku, macam sesi interview kerja pulak, belum habis jawab soalan 1 soalan 2 dah ditanya.. i say man, tapi aku tetap sabar dan tekun melayan kerenah mereka sorang demi sorang.
Zaman tadika ku...
aliran orang putih di tengah bandar, kalu tak silap tadika tu namanya St Martin.
Dengar namanya pun kau orang dah tahu, itu tadika ape. Kenapa hantar kat situ?
aku sendiri pun tak pasti, mungkin keadaan pada masa tu kot...
Kat tadika tu best sangat, teacher nya baik dan amat mengambil berat.
Persekitaran yang bersih dan selesa untuk belajar. Aku masih ingat lagi, setiap
masa tu aku kecik lagi)
